Below are my personal views of Sonic and Amy’s relationship.
*NOTE* I won't be talking about Sonic X, because the loving moments shared between
Sonic and Amy are easy to spot! So I'll be discussing the games.
Amy doesn’t Love Sonic…
Someone once told me that to experience real love, you have to be older.
Why should you have to be a certain age to have strong feelings for another?
Love does not need an age to become real.
Amy chases after Sonic. Why? Because she wants to be with him.
Why? Because she is a stalker and is abusing his personal space?
No. Because when someone is in love with someone, that person
is the most important thing in the world.
That is why she is always wanting to be with sonic.
Along with love, comes worry. Amy cares so much for Sonic,
the last thing she would want is for him to get hurt.
Which is another reason why she follows after him.
Amy is not Selfish.
Sonic likes fighting against Eggman. He gets a kick out of it. Even though Sonic does this by his own free will,
Amy has not once asked Sonic to stop putting himself in danger. Amy isn’t selfish, (unlike a certain squirrel)
she’s not going to take away something that Sonic enjoys. She knows that the world needs protection from
Eggman and only Sonic has the strength to stop him. Even if Amy has to through sleepless nights of worry,
she’s not going to take that away from him. Amy doesn't tell Sonic to stop fighting so that he can just be
with her.
Marry me Sonic!
Amy doesn't seem completely serious about the whole “marry me” thing. Sure, she'd love to marry Sonic,
but she knows that would be impossible, as Sonic is too busy saving the world (note that having Sonic marry would go against the 'ageless, carefree, cool' essense that Sega has created in Sonic's character- it's just not gonna happen)! But Amy has fun teasing and freaking Sonic out about it anyway!
Sonic Heroes...
At the start of Team Rose’s story, when Amy is looking at the newspaper, Sonic, chocola and Froggy are on it. They’ve gone missing. Amy isn’t stalking Sonic. She is in fact trying to find out if he is safe. Because she thinks
he is MISSING. After she’s found Sonic (Team Rose vs. Team Sonic) she continues to help Cream and Big find Chocola and Froggy. If she was stalking him, she would’ve ditched Cream and Big and went off to stalk Sonic.
Amy is not Abusive.
Just because Amy gives Sonic a few whacks with her piko piko hammer doesn't make her abusive! ..right?
Lol, well we've gotta remember, she is a cartoon character after all! I've watched alot of japanese anime, and I've learnt that this is perfectly normal behaviour in the culture of Japanese cartoons/games!
Just before Team Rose and Team Sonic fight, Amy says to Sonic: “This time Sonic, you’re mine!”
Now that doesn’t sound like Amy wanted to bash Sonic up! It sounded like she was playing with him.
I think the idea was meant to be that they were just play fighting! ^_^ Even during the fight, Knuckles
says to Sonic “Are you playing with that girls heart again Sonic?”
Sonic even says to Amy to stop playing around (Because he’s kinda in a rush to try and stop Eggman).
So it’s safe to say that they were just mucking about! ^___^
The Crush.
I used to feel sorry for Amy. Because it seemed to me that Sonic wasn’t returning the feelings that she showed towards him. But then, when you really pay attention, he is. Sonic is always (well most of the time) teasing Amy. Normally, as weird as it may be, when guys tease girls, they have a crush on them. Sonic has a hard time expressing his feelings and the only way he knows how is through teasing Amy.
